YOUTH SUICIDE AND COVID
Male youth suicide is on the rise as COVID lockdowns exacerbate feelings of helplessness. Valuing and caring for the self is a learned childhood skill but boys are told that caring is “girly” behavior and they are encouraged often brutally through violence and intimidation to close down their powerful internal fields that hold those gifts.
Above all else boys are told to man up! But young men are confused as social pressures also demand they be a “sensitive person”. And this means they must reopen and activate those same female fields.
Reaching puberty has never been easy and it is up to us as leaders and educators to demonstrate clear values about how all energy is vital, whether it be male or female, beginning with the fundamentals of caring for ourselves while supporting others.
